Birth is unpredictable at the best of times.

I think there is a common misconception that having a birth plan means planning the perfect birth, at least that’s what I used to think it meant! And while doing your research ahead of time does help you make informed decisions leading up to your birth, it doesn’t mean you won’t be faced with the unexpected. When you invest time into creating a birth plan, you can go into your birth armed with the knowledge of what decisions you may be faced with and their implications. This beautiful mumma had hoped and planned to birth at home, but after working hard for many many hours to bring baby earthside, she also knew when it was time to make the call to transfer to the hospital.
