The Birth of Edwina | Townsville Homebirth Photography and Videography
2022 was a momentous year for Townsville: The year Mumma G officially started offering homebirth midwifery services in our beautiful but somewhat birth-option limited regional city. Attending homebirths alongside Georgina this year has been one of my greatest privileges and something I hope continues for many years. This particular birth was actually the birth of Mumma G’s granddaughter, Edwina. It was so special to watch the unique roles of midwife, mother and grandmother all intertwine as Edwina was brought into the world surrounded by love and family. I also had the privilege of attending Clare’s first birth and so being invited back into the birth space I felt more like family too.
For Clare’s maternity photos this time around she asked for me to document one of her antenatal appointments at home and also some family photos at the pool close to their house. My dream is for clients to feel relaxed and natural, so doing an activity that’s meaningful to your family is the perfect scenario for documenting this special time of life. A pool trip was perfect and I think the mix of home and pool photos worked perfectly.
